A Christmas Prophecy From Long Ago

Judah, your brothers shall praise you;
Your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies;
Your father’s sons shall bow down to you.
Judah is a lion’s whelp; from the prey, my son, you have gone up.
He couches, he lies down as a lion, and as a lion, who dares rouse him up?
The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet,
Until Shiloh comes, and to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.
He ties his foal to the vine, and his donkey’s colt to the choice vine;
He washes his garments in wine, and his robes in the blood of grapes.
His eyes are dull from wine, and his teeth white from milk. Genesis 49:9-12

In his final days Jacob (Israel) pronounces prophecies about his sons which all represented tribes of Israel. Judah is particular because in the prophecy is hints of Messiah Jesus, for it is through Judah’s line that he would and did come. He would be a lion, Shiloh (Peace), humble, suffering (robes in blood of grapes), and tortured.
What a perfect Christmas reminder that God had from eternity past planned for the redemption of mankind.

This Christmas season, how connected to God’s story am I? How does it bring rejoicing and recognition of God’s eternal plan?

God as this day begins, would You lead and guide me in every conversation. May I be compassionate and wise. Also, help me please be productive and accomplish all necessary. I pray as well for my family and kids that this Christmas would be sweet for them as well. Meet their deepest needs.
