Handling Reproach

reproachReproach has broken my heart and I am so sick.
And I looked for sympathy, but there was none,
And for comforters, but I found none.
They also gave me gall for my food
And for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. Psalm 69:20-21

In this fascinating Psalm, David declares how he has suffered dishonor. Then in this stanza he prophetically expresses (much like Psalm 22) the suffering of Messiah. In verses 27-28, David condemns those who mock Jesus upon the cross. He says “Add iniquity to their iniquity, And may they not come into Your righteousness. May they be blotted out of the book of life
And may they not be recorded with the righteous.” Of course, Jesus says “Forgive them Father, they know not what they do”.

How do I handle dishonor and reproach? Am I forgiving like Jesus?

God, its gonna come my way. I wish it didn’t. So prepare me to respond as You would to those who would tear down and reproach me. Jesus, You are again, my model in all things. Let’s walk together through this day with grace and joy.
