God Picks Up The Tab

god picks up the tabMoreover, I hereby decree what you are to do for these elders of the Jews in the construction of this house of God:

Their expenses are to be fully paid out of the royal treasury, from the revenues of Trans-Euphrates, so that the work will not stop. Whatever is needed—young bulls, rams, male lambs for burnt offerings to the God of heaven, and wheat, salt, wine and olive oil, as requested by the priests in Jerusalem—must be given them daily without fail, so that they may offer sacrifices pleasing to the God of heaven and pray for the well-being of the king and his sons. Ezra 6:8-10

Ever have that funny moment at a restaurant when you aren’t sure who will pick up the tab? Will it be shared, divided or will someone just cover it all? God prompted Darius to do more for God’s people than even originally decreed by Cyrus. God really is able to do more than we ask or imagine. Ephesians 3:20 says “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.” The rebuilding of the temple would be paid for from the king’s royal treasury, but now so will the priestly offerings. The prophets Haggai and Zechariah received amazing favor from God!

Do I receive the favor of God like this? Sometimes. Oh that I would live with faith and that this would be an every day thing.

God, as we start this day, I pray that You will lead and guide. I would imagine there are many to minister to today. But first let me honor and appreciate and worship You. You are my God. Please prepare me with forgiveness and cover my sin that I might walk with You and represent You. Fill me with Your Spirit today. Bless me that I might bless others. With You I am everything and sufficient, without You, nothing.
