When you are in distress and all these things have come upon you, in the latter days you will return to the Lord your God and listen to His voice. For the Lord your God is a compassionate God; He will not fail you nor destroy you nor forget the covenant with your fathers which He swore to them. Deuteronomy 4:30-31
God’s response to Israel’s certain future sin and idolatry was first to remove His protective hand upon them, then to demonstrate His compassion and fulfill His promise to their ancestors. God works in our lives in a similar way today. He rushes to us when we repent and turn to Him. He graciously fulfills His covenant and promises.
Have I allowed God’s compassion to flow into my life? Am I like Him, faithfully fulfilling my promises to others?
God, You are full of compassion. I love that ‘the steadfast love of the Lord never fails, Your compassion never comes to an end. They are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness’. Please move in me and through me to extend Your compassion to many. In Jesus name.
