Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. Philippians 2:14-15
When we live life without complaining we stand out, big time. The attitude that prepares us to avoid complaining and arguing is humility. When I consider Jesus example, who Himself left his heavenly and divine prerogatives, emptying Himself and suffering as He did, I realize afresh that I too should be humble and a servant. This is purifying. It also opens a conversations with others who want to know about the word of life that changed me.
So, how often am I complaining. I must confess that my wife is generally the only one who hears my complaints. It may be time to give her a break. I need to see Jesus more clearly to eradicate the pride and ‘know it all’, insecurity in my life.
Lord Jesus, You are the example of grace in speech and conduct in the midst of persecution, confusion, and even evil around You. Oh that my faith in You would inform me afresh that You are in control, no matter what the momentary circumstances reveal. Help me do everything without grumbling or complaining or arguing. Help me shine like You today!
