Dis-Belief

GospelAfterward He appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table; and He reproached them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who had seen Him after He had risen. And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.” Mark 16:14-16

Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene, the two on the road to Emmaus, and finally to the disciples. The disciples did not believe the testimony of the first ones. And Mark’s gospel records that Jesus reproached them for their unbelief. What a promise awaits those who believe and are baptized… the shall be saved.

When did I cross the line from unbelief to belief? So many years ago… 1980. And then later I followed that belief by being baptized in the lake at Perris. Its made all the difference in my life. What an amazing adventure filled with the miraculous and with blessing along with everything else in life (hardship, suffering, joy, success, etc.) All of this with the abiding presence of God’s Holy Spirit.

Jesus, I believe you came back alive and that You live in me. May I use the rest of my life to faithfully fulfill Your command to preach the gospel to all creation.
