Delight

delightHow blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers!

But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.

He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers. Psalm 1:1-3

The psalmist described the pattern of the blessed man. He has good friends, he is in the right place and he has a positive attitude. On top of all this, he delights in God’s way and His word. As a result, he feels a constant connection to the source of life (God Himself), he is productive and makes an eternal difference (his leaf does not wither), and there is the obvious hand of God prospering him.

How about me? Am I blessed man? I feel like I am. And, in my case, undeservedly so, by God’s grace. Yet, it is my desire to walk in the counsel of the godly, to stand (hang out) with the saints, and to sit with the optimistic crowd that wants to make a difference in our world. I feel blessed.

God, I want to draw close to You today. Even now as I pray, please forgive me of my transgressions and sins, fill me with Your Spirit, and cause me to prosper. I am going to delight in all your ways.
