cry aloudArise, cry aloud in the night at the beginning of the night watches;
Pour out your heart like water before the presence of the Lord;
Lift up your hands to Him for the life of your little ones
Who are faint because of hunger at the head of every street. Lamentation 2:19

The sins of compromise, idolatry, sexual immorality and mistreatment of the poor finally were judged by God. The raids and destruction of Jerusalem was so thorough that the people of God endured near starvation, destruction of homes, brutality, capture, and exile under Nebuchadnezzar. The war touched young and old alike. Jeremiah’s assessment reveals the bleakness and prayer for the life of the little ones.

Do I comprehend the devastating consequences and penalty for sin and especially idolatry? Is there any compromise in my life that displeases God?

Lord, I feel like I have your protective hand upon my life and I am grateful. Reveal to me today anything displeasing and show me Your ways from Your Word. There are many big and small labors of love ahead today, help me discern them and accomplish Your will in the world today.
