Coming To God On His Terms

His TermsNo man among the descendants of Aaron the priest who has a defect is to come near to offer the Lord’s offerings by fire; since he has a defect, he shall not come near to offer the food of his God. He may eat the food of his God, both of the most holy and of the holy, only he shall not go in to the veil or come near the altar because he has a defect, so that he will not profane My sanctuaries. For I am the Lord who sanctifies them. Leviticus 21:21-23

God prohibited the Sons of Aaron who had defects to represent the people of God and to bring the offerings by fire. That didn’t work in God’s plan. Sometimes we come to God on our terms. The more I understand Him, I realize I am to come to God on His terms. He says ‘be holy for I am holy’, and then provides the necessary means to do it (faith in Jesus Christ). Even the priests had to come to God on His terms, even though they were intimate with God’s ways.

How do my prayers reflect that I am submitting my will and ways to God and His ways? Am I pushing my agenda or His?

God, what a reminder that You have a will and a way that I am to follow. In it is great joy. Help me discern in conversations throughout the day what You desire. Give me courage to act, sensitivity to bring others along, and provision to succeed for Your sake and glory.
