I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.” The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life. Revelation 22:16-17
At the conclusion of John’s grand vision the anticipation of the coming of the Lord culminates with the cry “come Lord Jesus”. It seems that the Spirit of God in believers causes us to cry out “come”. Those around who hear us say “come”. And the offer is extended to anyone who is thirsty and needs God is invited to “come”. Truly, God is not willing that any should perish, but all come to the knowledge of repentance. This is why the right attitude for every Christian is to long for the coming of Jesus Christ when all things will be made right in our world.
How is my anticipation of Jesus return? Do I look forward to the day?
God, I love that all things one day will be made right with Jesus return. The Spirit in me says “come quickly”.
