Although there is no violence in my hands, and my prayer is pure.
O earth, do not cover my blood, and let there be no resting place for my cry.
Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my advocate is on high.
My friends are my scoffers; my eye weeps to God.
O that a man might plead with God as a man with his neighbor!
For when a few years are past, I shall go the way of no return. Job 16:18-22

Job recognizes that God alone is his advocate and friend. At the same time, he wonders about this suffering… is it at God’s own hand? He reminds himself that this life is short and soon he will be with his maker.

Have I realized that God is my advocate? Yes, He amazes me. As good as my friends are, compared to the love and care of God, it is as if my friends are scoffers.

Lord God, I am in the midst of great difficulty. The challenges I am facing are too big for me. The way forward is not clear. So, I ask You to lead, guide and provide by Your great power.
