For what thanks can we render to God for you in return for all the joy with which we rejoice before our God on your account, as we night and day keep praying most earnestly that we may see your face, and may complete what is lacking in your faith? I Thessalonians 3:9-10
Praying for other people creates a deep connection between us. Its hard to explain why. But Paul felt a fond affection for people in Thessalonica. He worried that they wouldn’t feel the same way and that some may have fallen away because of affliction and persecution. He was excited to find out that felt the same toward him.
Who am I connected to in this way? Yesterday my friend Steve (another pastor) called me and we picked up where we left off, almost a year ago. It was fun to hear about God’s work in his life, the life of the church and his family. And there are others too. This is the fellowship bond that grows when we pray for one another.
God, this morning as I feel that cool breeze coming in through the kitchen window, I praise You for the rest your provide. I ask that You bless and strenghten my friends Chris and Judy and Tony and Minette as they serve together in the church in Joplin. Build up Rick and Amy in Roseville, Bob and Joymay as well as Troy and Rachelle with Dave and Katherine in Colorado, and in Corona all the saints at Crossroads whom I love (and who drive me crazy). They are too numerous to list for fear of missing one and causing offense, so I will not write them out. Today, by the power of Your Spirit cause a tidal wave of evangelism, encouragement and spiritual growth through all of us.
