I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.
Show me the wonders of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes.
Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings. Proverbs 17:6-8
David fully expected God to answer his prayers. He recognized that God’s attentiveness in his life was an expression of God’s great love. David felt like he was the apple (pupil) or central focus of God’s vision. What an amazing thing to realize, that God is aware and cares! If this were not enough, David recognizes that God’s care is like being under the shadow of His wing.
Is this my expectation of God and the expression of His great love? It is. I didn’t mean to imply that I deserve it, only that God’s love is that wonderful.
Lord, as I finish this day, I am grateful for the way You intervened today and kept me in your sight. You also hid me under your wing. I am blessed. Though the day wasn’t easy, You made it truly great.
