So also Christ did not glorify Himself so as to become a high priest, but He who said to Him, “YOU ARE MY SON, TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU”; just as He says also in another passage, “YOU ARE A PRIEST FOREVER ACCORDING TO THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK.” Hebrews 5:5-6
Jesus gives us the ultimate example of humility. Though He is the Son of God and always a priest, he did not glorify Himself, but endured suffering.
How much of this attitude is present in me? What am I willing to endure for His sake or the sake of others? Do I need to continually claim my rights as a son, priest, or other role? Or am I content to let God glorify me?
Lord here is a very safe place to be. Let me follow Your lead and walk humbly with You today.
