Leaving My Sin On The Cutting Room Floor

But now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him. Hebrews 9:26b-28

I wonder if, when we are in heaven, God will show a movie about our lives. There are parts I will be proud of… and some embarrassing things I have done that I hope end up on the editor’s cutting room floor. The writer of Hebrews suggests that I may be spared the recital of my sins… in this little phrase about when Jesus returns… “He will appear; without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him”. How wonderful to know my sins are forgiven and forgotten. It very possible that all my mistakes, willful disobedience, contrary thoughts, lusts, unkindness, envying, and the like will never be known. Now that’s a grace I don’t deserve and one that motivates me to be grateful, loving and holy, fully devoted to Him.

Is there any besetting sin in my life today? What step of holiness can I take in response to God’s great love, grace, and mercy?

Lord God, how amazing that You see me as righteous as Your Dear Son, Jesus. This undeserved and imputed righteousness motivates me to be in practice as You see me. By the power of Your Spirit help me love like Him and to be pleasing in Your sight. Protect me from harm, use me to inspire others and You guide me. Thank you for making the cuts necessary in my story.
