Faith Is A Gift And A Choice

By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.
By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; Hebrews 11:23-26

Moses is a type of Christ. His life parallels that of the Messiah inasmuch as God uses Moses to save His people. Moses acted in faith, as did his parents and God brought about His extraordinary plan. God works out His extraordinary plan today through men and women of faith. Often at the crux of a faith decision is saying ‘no’ to worldly alternatives and saying ‘yes’ to a godly calling. Moses’ faith was a gift from God and a choice as well.

What calling has God placed on my life? What alternative would take me away or delay God’s plan unfolding?

God, by faith I am going to continue to follow what I believe You’ve placed in my mind and heart. I count it a great privilege to serve You as a pastor. As I continue through law school, I pray one day I might represent You in bringing about justice and especially defending Christian liberty and freedom. Help me be a man of faith who makes it easier for those lacking faith to ‘see’ Jesus.
